Environmental Test Chambers

Our large scale climate controlled environmental chambers allow us to evaluate and precisely measure the impact of a product or service on indoor air quality.
We specialise in the assessment of key areas of concern that relate to indoor air quality, such as indoor particulate contaminants, including ultra-fine particles, virus, bacteria, mold and toxins (including endotoxin).
We are experts in investigating indoor environmental factors impacting on health. The constant drive for energy efficiency is further impacting on air exchange in the built environment and can have a negative impact on indoor air quality.
We investigate the impact of various electrical appliances and household products on indoor environmental pollution using state-of-the-art analytical methods and models.
Our walk in, climate controlled environmental test chambers are used to study the impact of consumer products such as air conditioners on circulation or re-entrainment of hazardous particulates.
The chambers give us the ability to precisely control parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, air quality and air exchange rate. The air composition can be accurately measured and adjusted using our state of the art air handling system that controls air exchange. A double skin and ante room further isolates the chamber from any influences in the surrounding atmosphere.
Specialist monitoring instruments measure concentrations of suspended particulates and the levels of other harmful airborne pollutants such as allergens and viruses.
Outside the chamber there is a computer control system which is equipped for remote manipulation of climatic parameters and real time data capture and modelling.
The main chamber is a purpose built ASTM standard chamber of 28.5 m³ capacity. It is constructed from stainless steel with all materials complying with low VOC emission requirements. The air change rate can be controlled within a range from 0.38 to 30 Air Changes per Hour (ACH). Temperature and humidity levels can be controlled across a wide range at all ACH rates. The main chamber is placed at the centre of the test facility with the four analytical laboratories (bacteria, virus, mold and allergen) placed in a hub and spoke format to allow rapid multifaceted examination of all samples that are generated.
