Description of Test
Assessment of the effectiveness of fungistatic compounds in plastics formulations.

Products that can be tested
Plastics

Scope

  • Assesses the relative resistance of fungistatic treatments on plastics. The better the treatment the less fungi will be able to grow on the surfaces of interest.
  • A combination or any one of the following are overlaid in a top agar layer on the specimen of interest.
    1. Aspergillus niger
    2. Chaetomium globsolum
    3. Paecilomyces variotii
    4. Penicillium funiculsolum
    5. Trichoderma longibrachiatum
  • The relative presence or absence of inhibition is recorded after a period of 21 days.
  • The test method commonly uses: Aspergillus niger; Chaetomium globsolun; Paecilomyces variotii; Penicillium funiculsolum and Trichoderma longibrachiatum however this can be adapted to include other fungal species as requested by the client.
