Description of Test
Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of fungicidal or yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas. Test method and requirements (phase 2, step 1)
Products that can be tested
Chemical disinfectant and antiseptic products that form a homogenous, physically stable preparation when diluted with hard water. It applies to produts that are planned to be used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas.
- Aspergillus niger conidia or vegetative Candida albicans cells are used as the test microorganisms.
- The test solution is introduced to the target cells in the presence of an interfering substance (Bovine Serum Albumin) at 20 ± 1°C for 15 minutes ± 10 seconds.
- At the end of contact time, an aliquot of the sample is withdrawn and the fungicidal/ fungistatic activity is immediately neutralised.
- The number of surviving fungi is ascertained by plating on an appropriate agar and enumerating viable colony forming units.
Third Party Validation
